My brother's first media experience

This is for anyone that knows my little brother. Although a few of you may already know about this, my little brother had his first "interview" with someone from the media the other day," (being the big High School football star that he is :p ). The Lima News reporter asked, If you were a first round draft choice for the NFL, what would you ask for in your contract. My brothers response (which actually made today's newspaper) was "Hohos. God, I love those things."

... I've never been more proud. :tear:

Most people are scared of normal things, like snakes or spiders, or something along those lines. But I now have an official phobia of the the date above (I wonder what it would be called?). And I'm not talking about "my parents are coming to town that day *chuckle**chuckle*" I'm talking seriously terrified of the day.

I am a person that is fascinated with prophecy and things of that nature. I think it is incredible that people can seemingly predict things that happen way after their time has passed. So anytime I see anything of the nature, I tend to watch it, on TV or Internet, whatever. I don't even usually care what it's about or why it's founded. It's just cool to see what people, books, the internet, etc can come up with.

One such case is the Bible code. For those who don't know about it. The bible code uses the original text of the bible and basic computer function to predict the future. It works by picking a word. Whether it be your last name, a time, a person; and plugging it into the bible. The code then goes and picks the letters out to create that word, creating a code of skips behind it. For example if the word was two and it read the phrase "today will be hot outside" the code would take the first letter in today, skip four letters be the first letter of will, skip six letters and get the o in hot to create the word "two". The code then records the series of skips and does it for the whole passage in the bible, leaving a series of letters. When doing this, the bible has actually come up with several very crazy predictions. If the words September Eleventh is typed in to the gospels of the new testament (which is where these codes are usually set) you get the words "towers, falling, and terror". There's also more, but it's been a while since I've seen it... Anyway, to get to my point, when Armageddon is typed into the code, you get "ball of fire, end of days, and 2012" (again there is more, but those are just what I remember).

When I first heard about this, I thought "wow, that's weird, I what it would come up with for my last name"... In other words, I didn't really give it much thought... But several other things that I've seen recently have me incredibly freaked out.

I think the Bible Code is out there. I don't really give it much thought because I've seen the process done with other books like Mobe Dick and work. But it was still something that was always in the back of my head. Recently I was watching a show on the ancient Mayan civilization. Mayans have been considered the best time keepers of all time. Their calender was actually more accurate than ours is. It was actually able to predict solar eclipses thousands of years in the future. It also has made reference to a black hole in the center of the milky way galaxy that Scientist have proved is there. They Mayan calender ends on the day December 21, 2012 , when the earth and sun pass the galactic equator of this black hole (which Scientist believe will cause the poles to shift, causing a bunch of natural disasters).

At this point, I'm thinking what a weird coincidence. Turns out, it gets weirder. I just watched a show on History Channel talking about the end of days. It turns out several other prophecies dating to ancient china, middle aged England, Native Americans in the early 1900s and a couple others all point to 2012, a couple even the specific date of December 21. The show made a point to say that for centuries people have thought that the end of days was just around the corner, and naturally it's never come true. But how many times have those thoughts been mirrored by so many different sources?

So yeah, I'm flipping out at the moment... Not that I can really do anything about it (which I think is making it worse), its just really crazy... I just find it so crazy that books and people from across space and time have come up with the same time and date. And I do think some of the methods for how these prophecies where founded is a little weird. And I'm sure you can really make any prophecy say anything that you want them to. But it's just really creepy.

I don't know, I'm a loser and needed to share may scaredness with everyone. I wish I could go into more detail about some of the stuff, because it really was fascinating (although incredibly scary). If you want to watch all three things I found first on History Channel (although the Internet is a good source also)- Bible Code, I Ching, End of Days, Mayan Calender... Although I have to admit, it's kinda funny to look it up online, b/c often times you'll find the results mixed in with things like Aliens making contact and others. Believe and feel free to discuss as you will.

Welcome to Toledo...

Where it's 60 degrees with a 50% chance of snow. SERIOUSLY!!!! Today we had the best weather we've had in a long time. 55 degrees, sunny, just a gorgeous day... That was two hours ago, now it's raining, 40 degrees, and we're expecting sleet within the hour!!

I love Toledo. I think it's a great city. And I love the 4 seasons. But I can't understand why in Northern Ohio the weather sees fit to give us all four seasons on the same day. Drives me nuts!!!

Anyway, now that that's over with, HELLO ALL  It's been a while since I've been on. I'm graduated from College now and joined the endless masses of people searching for a job in my field. And unfortunately, Toledo is not a great place to look for jobs. So it's probably going to be a while before I actually get into it.

Sally and I have decided to move back to Lima (my hometown, about an hour south of Toledo) once she finishes up College. We've already done a little looking into houses, which has been rather entertaining. Its exciting to think about the next stage of life... Although I'm not sure how much I'm going to enjoy living within shouting distance of my parents. lol. We'll have to see how it goes ;)

Geek Moment: Super Smash Bros Brawl is coming out Sunday.... I'm really geeked about it. It's kinda sad really. But, if anyone else is into the game, I'm more than happy to share Wii friend codes with who ever wants to... And I'm not that good at Smash, so I'm a generally easy target, I just think the game looks amazing. lol.

Anyway, that's my "about me segment" for the year. Hopefully I'll be on a little more now. It seems to be a little easier to find time to do artistic stuff now that I'm out of School. :D Hope all is well with everyone.

People Suck

So today I witnessed THE MOST RACIST event I have ever seen. It's getting to be late in the Semester here at UT. So a lot of my time has been spent in various computer labs working on homework. So I'm sitting in the student union computer lab (biggest lab on campus, has 20 mac's and 70 pc's). It is almost always full, and when it's not, there are only a few seats open. I like to use it b/c it's one of two labs on campus that have mac's available to me (and the other one is never open when I need it).

Anyway, so I'm typing up a resume for one of my projects (more on this in a different entry) with people on both sides of me, and this small fat white girl with red hair (one of the ugliest people I've ever seen on campus... inside and out) came in and started talking somewhat loudly to the person next to me. Which didn't really bother me to much b/c I had headphones on.

After about 10 minutes of putting up with this crap, a phone went off across from me from one of the other Mac computers. It belonged to a black girl that was working on Word. She picked up the phone and told whoever was on the other end that she was in a computer lab. Before she could get anything else out, the annoying girl says (rather loudly) "Get off the fucking phone."

I had to take off my headphones at this point. I couldn't believe she had just yelled this. At first it seemed like the girl on the phone didn't hear her, but then she continued to say racially motivated comments to the girl next to me. At this point, the girl on the phone got mad and hung up the phone. She went on to explain that it was important phone call and that she had to take it to at least let the person know that she had been called (so the person didn't call back again right away). This apparently didn't satisfy the annoying one. "There's fucking signs up all over the fucking place that say no cell phones"... What she neglected to mention was those same signs also say on them in BIGGER letters to keep quiet... and after today they should read no white trash too.

Anyway, there was more yelling and the black girl with some of her friends left while the white girl and a couple of her friends clapped. The black girl got back on her phone before she left and started talking loudly explaining where she was, which I personally found funny. She then spent 10 minutes talking about the "Nappy Haired Hoe" and how she wished she could say racial stuff and how she's glad she brought her pepper spray b/c she was probably get jumped.

She added a little later before she left that everyone felt this way. And I laughed outloud, she shot me a nasty look, and I just looked back and laughed harder. Could she really think, that many people were that moronic? I don't know, maybe I'm alone in this, but I couldn't believe that people can be that insensitive and just straight up racist.
